LULLACRY Guitarist: New Album Will Be 'More Rock-Oriented'

May 15, 2005

LULLACRY guitarist Sami Vauhkonen has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"I just came back from Astia studio for the last time, considering the upcoming masterpiece.

"Whooa, I can say that I've been waiting this day to happen for a while… Anssi [Kippo, engineer/producer] did an amazing job with keyboards and some additional shit. I spent two 15-hour days at Astia and we managed to finish all the stuff we needed, including some lead guitars. I used a Stratocaster (Tokai) in the studio for the first time. It was a great experience, even if I was so tired that I almost fell a sleep during the recording. Just before Anssi started to record, he asked me if I was awake, haha.

"Here are some song titles: 'Perfect Tonight' (yes, if everything was 'alright tonight' on the last album, now it's all perfect, haha!!),'Love Lust Desire', 'Stranger In You', 'Killing Time', 'Heart Shaped Scars', 'Soul In Half', 'I Want You', 'Zero', 'King of Pain', 'Fire Within'.

"This recording session has been very long and difficult, but definitely worth every fuckin' drop of perspiration! This album will be more rock-oriented and also includes a different type of songs than before. I can give you some examples. Song called 'King of Pain' is a kind of combination of QUEENSRŸCHE and Sammy Hagar-era VAN HALEN with some LullaFlavor, of course. We used lots of male backing vocals and keyboards with that song. A song called 'Zero' is a pure rock in the vein of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and definitely kicks your ass a big time! There will also be maybe the (sl)easiest song we´ve ever done. 'Heart Shaped Scars' is a VERY beautiful ballad, reminding me [of] EUROPE's 'Carrie' (ok, hit me, but I like that song).

"I could talk hours, but I will get back to you with some thoughts on the upcoming album. It will be out on September/October."

LULLACRY issued a five-song EP, "Fire Within", last August, featuring two new songs ("Fire Within" and "The #1 Rebel"),two remakes of classic LULLACRY tracks, as well as a cover version of W.A.S.P.'s "L.O.V.E. Machine".
